Wayne Allwine has passed...

From Animation World Network:

"Wayne Allwine, who was the third person to officially voice Mickey Mouse, has died at the age of 62, according to several blogs, from complications from diabetes. Allwine, voiced Mickey as part of the animated lead-in to The New Mickey Mouse Club in 1977, and has provided the voice to the animated mouse ever since. He was married to Russi Taylor, the current voice of Minnie Mouse. Both were named Disney Legends last year. Allwine was the voice of Mickey for longer than anyone. Walt Disney voiced him from 1928 to 1947 and Jimmy MacDonald took the reins from 1947 to 1953. Allwine was also a sound effects editor and foley artist on Disney films and TV shows."

This is truly a tragic loss. Much moreso for Disney. Maybe this will give them a wakeup call and put Mickey back into the public spotlight, where he belongs.

RIP Wayne Allwine
