HONG KONG PHOOEY gets fan-riffic new movie

From ComingSoon.net:

"Alcon Entertainment is moving forward with its live-action/animated version of Hong Kong Phooey with Alex Zamm on board to direct from David Goodman's script.

Alcon toppers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are producing along with Brett Ratner and Jay Stern.

The project is an adaptation of the 1970s Hanna-Barbera animated TV series, about a police station janitor who becomes a dog with mystical powers, including the ability to do kung fu."

It may be hard for you to believe but I am actually a huge fan of Hong Kong Phooey and his alter-ego, Penry. YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT. I am all for a movie based on this classic cartoon. Just don't let Jackie Chan be the voice of Phooey/Penry. Here's the original intro:

Did you hear the voice of Autobot Jazz? Well, you did! That was Scatman Crothers playing the voice of the #1 super-guy. They should get somebody with as much comic timing and soulful voice as his was.
