Ron Howard returns to comedy

"Variety reports that Ron Howard will next direct Vince Vaughn in an untitled comedy written by Allan Loeb (upcoming Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps).

Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer hatched the idea and will produce with Vaughn and his Wild West Picture Show banner.

The film is an exploration of the fallout surrounding infidelity between lovers and friends.

The Universal Pictures release is expected to start filming in Chicago this spring."

The last "comedy" Ron Howard directed was Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Since then he's directed more serious fare like A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man and the "blockbusters" The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. We'll see how this one turns out.

"[] has debuted the trailer for director Ron Howard's The Dilemma, starring Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder, Channing Tatum and Queen Latifah.

Produced by Brian Grazer and written by Allan Loeb, the January 14 release is about a man who finds out that what you don't say to a friend is just as important as what you do. The Dilemma is a story of how far you can bend a brotherly bond before it snaps. Since college, confirmed bachelor Ronny (Vaughn) and happily married Nick (James) have been through thick and thin. Now partners in an auto design firm, the two pals are vying to land a dream project that would launch their company. With Ronny's girlfriend, Beth (Connelly), and Nick's wife, Geneva (Ryder), by their sides, they're unbeatable. But Ronny's world is turned upside down when he inadvertently sees Geneva out with another man and makes it his mission to get answers. As the amateur investigation dissolves his world into comic mayhem, he learns that Nick has a few secrets of his own. Now, with the clock ticking and pressure mounting on the biggest presentation of their careers, Ronny must decide how and when he will reveal the truth to his best friend."
