"Married screenwriters Joe Syracuse and Lisa Addario are penning Imaginary Enemies for DreamWorks Animation. Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forever After) is developing the project with the writers, but he is not on board to direct at the moment.
... The project 'will be told from the point of view of the imaginary friends who had long been used as scapegoats by unscrupulous children looking for someone else to blame for their misdeeds. Eventually fed up, those imaginary people come looking for some payback when the kids are grown up.'
According to the trade, discussions are taking place about a possible live-action/animation hybrid that would represent the split worlds of the imaginary and the real."

Seth Rogen turns into a ghost?

"Seth Rogen has signed on for Boo U, according to Heat Vision.
The animated film (from Igor director Tony Leondis) is being developed by DreamWorks Animation for release in 3D. Rogen will play a ghost who is forced to return to ghost school and improve his haunting skills.
The studio is eyeing a 2012 release for the film."
Seth Rogen has previously done films from DreamWorks Animations - Shrek the Third, Kung Fu Panda (and its upcoming sequel), Monsters vs. Aliens.
So can this be an interesting combination of Casper and Monsters, Inc.?

In the November 5 release, super villain Megamind (Will Ferrell) defeats his archrival Metro Man (Brad Pitt) and the world should be his oyster. But instead, Megamind falls into total despair. It turns out that life without a rival is life without a point for him. So, he creates a new superhero rival, Titan (Jonah Hill). Unfortunately, the new hero wants to be a super villain, too. Caught in the middle, star reporter Roxanne Ritchi (Tina Fey) asks the tough questions: Who can we turn to? Who has what it takes to stand up to this menace? Who will defend the innocent? Megamind! Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds are CROOD

"DreamWorks Animation announced today that Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds will both star in its pre-historic themed 3D CG animated comedy adventure The Croods, Cage will play the leader and protector of his family, and Reynolds will portray an outsider whose new ideas challenge the patriarch's authority.

The Croods is written and directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, upcoming How to Train Your Dragon) and Kirk DeMicco (Space Chimps) based on a screenplay originally developed by John Cleese & Kirk DeMicco and produced by Kristine Belson & Jane Hartwell. The Croods is set for release on March 30, 2012.
Surviving in a volcanic world is tough enough, but caveman Grug (Cage) gets a rude awakening when an earthquake forces him to leave behind the only world he knows. With his family in tow, he ventures out into the volatile world in search of a new home. The situation becomes even more complicated when Grug's family - but in particular his eldest daughter - become smitten with a nomad (Reynolds) they encounter on their dangerous journey. This quirky, imaginative stranger's search for 'tomorrow' is at odds with Grug's reliance on the traditions of yesterday."

It's ALL FRIGHT tonight

"DreamWorks Animation has hired Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris to write Gil's All Fright Diner, an adaptation of the A. Lee Martinez novel that has Barry Sonnenfeld attached to direct.
Gil's All Fright Diner revolves around a vampire and a werewolf. They are mismatched partners who battle zombies and try to save the world, after they stop in a diner in the desert that is a conduit for the supernatural.
Kirk De Micco was the first writer on the film.
Reiff and Voris' credits include Kung Fu Panda and the upcoming Robin Hood."
Huh. Seems like two movies with two different writing styles. If the vampire's name is Edward and the werewolf's name is Jacob, I'll pass.

Leonardo DiCaprio is Jack Frost

DiCaprio is the first actor announced for The Guardians, which is produced by Christina Steinberg and Nancy Bernstein, and directed by Peter Ramsey.

DreamWorks Animations through 2012

"Variety reports that DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg will unveil the company's slate through late 2012 for the investment community in New York today, revealing five original projects and a handful of franchise follow-ups. All will be produced in 3-D.
How to Train Your Dragon is written and directed by Chris Sanders and Den DeBlois. It stars Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera and Johan Hill. Set in the world of Vikings and dragons, it centers on an awkward teen who befriends an injured dragon. Look for "Dragon" on March 26, 2010.
2010 will also bring a fourth installment in the "Shrek" series (now titled Shrek Forever After). The film, scheduled for a release on May 21, 2010, is directed by Mike Mitchell.
Among the highlights of today's presentation is the new title for "Master Mind"--Oobermind--for which Robert Downey Jr. will voice a supervillain who finds life a little dull after vanquishing good-guy rival Metro Man. The superhero-themed film, based on a spec script from Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films, will open Nov. 5, 2010. Tina Fey also voices a character.
The following year brings two projects. For the first, the company confirmed signing Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman for Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, due out June 3, 2011. Longtime story executive Jennifer Yuh Nelson makes her feature directorial debut.
In its Nov. 4 slot, DreamWorks Animation has The Guardians, turning to a not-yet-published book series from children's literature-to-animation titan William Joyce, whose work has previously inspired Disney's Meet the Robinsons and 'Rolie Polie Olie'. Jeff Lynch is attached to direct the film, which unites characters every child knows — Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Jack Frost and the Sandman — to defend the world from a Bogeyman-like villain.
2012 gets crowded once again, as in Puss in Boots imagines events before the popular character's appearance in Shrek 2, while introducing all-new characters. Antonio Banderas returns, and Salma Hayek will lend her voice to love interest Kitty. Shrek the Third helmer Chris Miller is onboard to direct, with the film slated for March 30, 2012.
Just two months later, Madagascar helmer Eric Darnell offers up a third installment in the zoo-break series, which would relocate the critters from Africa to Europe via a traveling circus.
