Vin Diesel vs. Dwayne Johnson?

From ComingSoon.net:

"Deadline New York is reporting that Dwayne Johnson is eyeing a starring role in Fast Five, the fifth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise coming to theaters on June 10, 2011.

In the movie, Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (Paul Walker) are fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen. [It's possible] Johnson's character would lead those lawmen if the deal goes through.

Justin Lin is returning to direct. Chris Morgan wrote the script."

OOH BOY!!! This is getting good!

TOOTH FAIRY trailer flies onto the Web!

From ComingSoon.net:

"The trailer for 20th Century Fox's Tooth Fairy, opening January 22nd and starring Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd, Billy Crystal, Julie Andrews, Stephen Merchant and Ryan Sheckler [has debuted].

Johnson plays 'The Tooth Fairy', also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster's hopes, he's sentenced to one week's hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek 'can't handle the tooth' - bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers' homes... doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams."

It's been a long time since I've seen Billy Crystal in a live-action movie. Love the cast and some of the jokes are pretty funny.

Dwayne Johnson goes 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA

From ComingSoon.net:
"While director McG has told anyone who would listen that he'd love to have Will Smith star in his reworking of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo for Disney Studios, according to the latest 'issue' of Production Weekly, Dwayne Johnson has been cast in the undersea epic, which is listed as in active development to start shooting in Australia later this year. Presumably, Johnson, whose last two movies have been for Disney, will play Captain Nemo himself."

SYNOPSIS:
"A fugitive whaler teams up with a naturalist, a mysterious woman and a captain of a futuristic submarine, to search for a lost underwater civilization that holds libraries of vast knowledge and a weapon with the power to destroy mankind."

Sounds like combining 20,000 Leagues and Atlantis: The Lost Empire (despite what people said, I liked it - especially hearing Marty McFly in voice-over form).

UPDATE:

Oops! No, he's not!

"Production Weekly has posted a retraction to the listing in their production guide which listed Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the star of McG's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo. McG told SCI Fi Wire that he hasn't even spoken to Johnson. Said McG, 'I don't know where that came from. I've never spoken to Dwayne Johnson. You can be the first to report that I have no idea where that came from. I wish him every success, but I never spoke to Dwayne about this.' He added that the movie is still being offered to Will Smith."

KCA results

From IMDB.com:

High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers were among the big winners at the 22nd Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The High School Musical sequel claimed the night's Favorite Movie prize and the film's star, Vanessa Hudgens, took home the Favorite Movie Actress honour. Meanwhile, a shocked Cyrus sobbed through her Favorite Female Singer acceptance speech and her ex-boyfriend, Nick Jonas, and his brothers picked up the Favorite Music Group award.

Other big winners at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion included Selena Gomez (Favorite TV Actress), iCarly (Favorite TV Show), Will Smith (Favorite Movie Actor) and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (Favorite Animated Movie).

A bronzed Leonardo DiCaprio also took home the Kids' Choice Awards' inaugural Big Green Help award for his environmental efforts.

And the Kids' Choice Awards wouldn't be the Kids' Choice Awards without plenty of green slime - Favourite Male Singer prizewinner Jesse McCartney got splattered while chatting to show host Dwayne Johnson and funnyman Will Ferrell (Land of the Lost) threw himself down a slime-filled slip 'n' slide on the UCLA campus.

Hugh Jackman (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Sandra Bullock (The Proposal) were also showered with the green gunk when they opened a briefcase to reveal the winner of the Favorite Book award (Twilight series).

Other highlights included performances from the Pussycat Dolls and the Jonas Brothers, and host Johnson dressing up to look like Cyrus.

More than 90 million online votes were cast for the event - a new record.

The full list of winners:
Favorite Movie - High School Musical 3: Senior Year
Favorite Animated Movie - Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie - Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda)
Favorite Male Movie Star - Will Smith (Hancock)
Favorite Female Movie Star - Vanessa Hudgens
Favorite TV Show - iCarly
Favorite Reality Show - American Idol
Favorite Cartoon - SpongeBob SquarePants
Favorite TV Actress - Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place)
Favorite TV Actor - Dylan Sprouse (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody)
Favorite Song - Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) by Beyonce
Favorite Music Group - Jonas Brothers
Favorite Male Singer - Jesse McCartney
Favorite Female Singer - Miley Cyrus
Favorite Male Athlete - Peyton Manning
Favorite Female Athlete - Candace Parker
Big Green Help Award - Leonardo DiCaprio
Favorite Video Game - Guitar Hero World Tour
Favorite Book - Twilight series

Apparently, Nickelodeon doesn't care about men cross-dressing. Oh, well.

I was hoping that either Dark Knight or Iron Man would take Favorite Movie but then I forgot, it's the KIDS Choice Awards. I don't think Leonardo DiCaprio has been in a KCA since 1999. Surprised to see Will Smith get Favorite Actor. I mean, don't get me wrong, I liked Hancock but still I would've liked to see Jim Carrey on stage.

Great Star Trek TV Spot though.

Zac Efron Talks Jonny Quest Movie

From ComingSoon.net:

"HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL franchise star Zac Efron talked to Moviehole about possibly starring in a live-action adaptation of 'Jonny Quest' at Warner Bros. Pictures. RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN director Andy Fick and star Dwayne Johnson are circling the project as well.

Efron would play the title role, while Johnson would play Race Bannon. The popular 1960s animated Hanna-Barbera TV series revolved around a young boy who travels the world with his scientist father, adopted brother from India, Bandit the bulldog, and a government agent (Bannon) assigned to protect them as they go on their adventures investigating scientific mysteries.

Efron says the project is in its early stages. 'It's a long, long process. It's so hard when people start leaking titbits. They're very, very early on [with it] – not that it won't happen happen, it's just early.'

A few weeks ago, Johnson commented on the script. 'I don't know if you've read the latest [draft] but it's awesome and it's badass... I hadn't read an action script like that in a LONG time. And that action was unbelievable. That will happen.'

The show, which is owned by Warner Bros. Animation, aired during primetime on ABC in 1964, lasting only one season. It was updated in the late '80s and '90s as 'The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest' on the Cartoon Network. The property has also been spun off as a comic book from DC."

Huh. Dwayne Johnson - From RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN to Race Bannon. Hehe. I like the irony. Anywho, EFRON - DO. NOT. SCREW. THIS. UP.

Efron To Take On Jonny Quest Role?

From IMDB.com:

"Wrestler-turned-movie star The Rock has been hired to protect Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron - the pair will reportedly team up in the big screen adaptation of 1960s animated classic The Adventures Of Jonny Quest.

The Rock - real name Dwayne Johnson - has confirmed he is set to play Race Bannon, the cartoon series' tough guy special agent who is hired to guard and train Johnny Quest, an 11-year-old who accompanies his doctor father on amazing adventures. And Johnson couldn't resist the action man role - insisting the script is one of the best he has ever be offered.

He tells Moviehole, 'I don't know if you've read the latest (draft) but it's awesome and it's badass and I haven't read, this is what I told everyone over at Warner Bros., and I love the studio too by the way, you know, I had my experience with them with Get Smart and they were great, I hadn't read an action script like that in a long time. And that action was unbelievable. That will happen.'

But despite Efron not actually having officially signed for the schoolboy role, he has hinted he would love the part - despite being ten years too old.

He says, 'I loved Jonny Quest when I was a kid. If you go a little older, it gives you more, it allows you to be...it just gives you a bit more, you know.' "

I don't mind Dwayne Johnson in the movie but Efron as Quest....NONONONONONONONONONONONONONO! If he wants to be a serious actor he at least needs to have one stinkin' movie when he doesn't freakin' sing!! (Maybe 17 Again?)

WALT DISNEY PICTURES 2009 Preview

This year, Disney's prospects don't look too bad.

Race to Witch Mountain -- (March 13)
Dwayne Johnson (Jack Bruno), AnnaSophia Robb (Tia), Alexander Ludwig (Tony), Carla Gugino; Directed by Andy Finkman
A Las Vegas cab driver and a discredited astrophysicist attempt to rescue two paranormal siblings from the hands of a villainous man.
---
I never did see the original movies, but I did see the 1990s remake with Robert Vaughn as the villain. This looks to be a major improvement.
---
Up -- (May 29th)
An animated film by Disney/Pixar
Voices of: Ed Asner (Carl Frederickson), Jordan Nagai (Russell)
By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America, however, he learns he isn’t alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip.
---
This looks to be the first all-people movie for Pixar since 2004's The Incredibles which used to be my all-time favorite Pixar movie (there really isn't a Pixar movie which isn't a favorite of mine) until this year's Wall-E. I'm just wondering if kids will respond to their main character being a really old guy voiced by Elf's Santa Claus.
---
When in Rome - - (September 18th)
Kristen Bell (Beth Harper), Josh Duhamel (Nick Beamon); Directed by Mark Steven Johnson
In New York City, a young art curator finds herself aggressively pursued by a band of wannabe lovers after she steals coins from a Roman fountain.
---
All I'm wondering, why is the guy who directed Daredevil and Ghost Rider doing a Disney romance-comedy? Casting looks great, plot looks great. Do as the Romans do!
---
A Christmas Carol - - (November 6th)
Perfomance Capture Film
Voices of: Jim Carrey (Ebenezer Scrooge), Richard E. Grant (Ghost of Christmas Past), John Cleese (Ghost of Christmas Present), Alan Rickman (Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come), Gary Oldman (Jacob Marley), William H. Macy (Bob Cratchit), Colin Firth (Fred), Bob Hoskins (Mr. Fezziwig), Robin Wright Penn (Mrs. Cratchit); Based on the story by Charles Dickens; Directed by Robert Zemeckis
An old and bitter miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, undergoes a profound experience of redemption over the course of one night with the help of three Christmas ghosts.
---
Jim Carrey as Scrooge? Directed by Robert Zemeckis?? I'm sold instantly! I'm only saddened that Michael J. Fox won't play Tiny Tim and Christopher Lloyd won't play Jacob Marley. Note that Jim Carrey performs all versions of Scrooge and the ghosts although the ghosts will be voiced by different actors.
