YOGI BEAR steals a trailer

"The unlikely pairing of Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake provide voices to the classic animated characters Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo, respectively, in a big screen adaptation of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series.

'When Jellystone Park is found to be losing business, greedy Mayor Brown decides to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors -- and, even worse, Yogi and Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they've ever known. Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is 'smarter than the average bear' as he and Boo-Boo join forces with their old nemesis Ranger Smith to find a way to save Jellystone Park from closing forever.

The film also stars Tom Cavanagh as Smith and Anna Faris as Rachel. Yogi Bear hits theaters on December 17, 2010."



Okay. It's a step-up from Alvin and the Chipmunks. The character design is a bit better than Scooby-Doo, which didn't even remotely LOOK like Scooby-Doo. Both Yogi and Boo-Boo look like CG versions of The Country Bears. Hopefully, it won't end up BEING The Country Bears (which has since faded into obscurity).

Yogi sounds like a cross between his normal self and Space Ghost. If they ever made a live-action Space Ghost movie, Dan Aykroyd would be a good voice.

Justin Timberlake was my biggest concern before the trailer came out. I used to think he'd be a terrible voice for Boo-Boo. After seeing the trailer, he sounded eerily like Boo-Boo. It was uncanny! I'd go so far as to say he actually nailed it!

Hey, hey Boo-Boo! I'm a Ghostbuster!

"Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are in talks to star in Yogi Bear, Warner Bros.' big screen adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

The film is being directed by Eric Brevig and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CG hybrid.

Faris will play a [live-action] nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in fictional Jellystone Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake may voice Yogi's companion, Boo Boo.

The studio hopes to get Yogi Bear under way in New Zealand in December. Brad Copeland penned the current script with Joshua Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia writing the original draft."

Anna Faris and Dan Aykroyd, I'm fine with. BUT Justin Timberlake as Boo-Boo? NO WAY!! That is so stupid!!

TRON LEGACY speeds into December

"Walt Disney Pictures has set a December 17, 2010 release date for Tron Legacy. The move puts the highly-anticipated film up against Sony's The Green Hornet and The Smurfs Movie, as well as Warner Bros.' Yogi Bear (We assume at least Smurfs will move, since that's two Sony releases on the same date.)

Tron Legacy is directed by Joseph Kosinski and stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen.

In the 3D adventure, Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant (Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous."

AHH!! Now I'm torn between The Green Hornet and Tron Legacy. I can easily skip The Smurfs Movie and Yogi Bear (unless they have insanely good casts).

THE GREEN HORNET flies away to December 2010!

"Seth Rogen's movie based on the pulp and television hero The Green Hornet has been moved from its original date of July 7, 2010 to its new date of December 17, 2010 according to Box Office Mojo. No reason for the move was given but one can presumes it's to give the movie more time for post-production--principal photography hasn't begun yet--and to get it away from Robert Rodriguez's Predators relaunch. (Currently, Sony had set that date for the 3D Smurfs movie, which one assumes will be moved itself, since currently, it's up against Warner Bros' animated Yogi Bear movie.) "

Where is this movie going? Does Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry care anymore?

UPDATE: Apparently they do!

"HitFix.com has gotten in touch with Seth Rogen for a reaction/explanation of the delay, and Rogen told them that he and his creative partners Evan Goldberg and director Michel Gondry are 'relieved and psyched about the change' because it does give them more time to finish and promote the movie, including an appearance at next year's Comic-Con."

Eric Brevig is Smarter than the Average Director

"Eric Brevig has come on to direct Warner Bros.' feature take on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear, which will be produced as a 3-D project.

Brevig, a longtime visual effects supervisor whose credits include The Day After Tomorrow and Men in Black, directed Warners and Walden's Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia, who executive produced 'That '70s Show,' are writing the screenplay for Yogi Bear, which will offer a new take on the half-century-old title character and his sidekick Boo Boo, who get into a series of misadventures in Jellystone Park. The movie is expected to combine live action and CG in the manner of Alvin and the Chipmunks."

This can work. I loved Journey 3D. Steve Martin should play Yogi's voice.
