Patrick Swayze was meant to be a ZOMBIE?

From ComingSoon.net:

"When writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick set out to find an actor to cameo in their horror-comedy Zombieland, their initial choice was Patrick Swayze who passed away earlier this week.

'That was many years ago, before he got sick,' explains Reese. The script got its start as a television pilot before it was groomed for the big screen and found its stars Jesse Eisenberg (as Columbus) and Woody Harrelson (as Tallahassee). 'It was [going to be] a Patrick Swayze zombie. They got attacked by him zombified and we had these wonderful moments where they found a potter's wheel and there's Columbus on the wheel and these other hands come up behind him [(referencing Ghost)] and it's Patrick Swayze the zombie. Ultimately, they fight and Patrick bull rushes Tallahassee who grabs him and lifts him into the air, a la Jennifer Grey [(referencing Dirty Dancing)], and smashes him into a pillar.'

When Swayze unfortunately had to bow out, Reese and Wernick set their sights on a number of other actors including Sylvester Stallone, Joe Pesci, Mark Hamill, The Rock [(Dwayne Johnson)], Kevin Bacon, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Matthew McConaughey. But none of them worked out."

And they eventually cast Bill Murray.

Here's two trailers to them:

Swayze was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, one of the most ly forms of the disease, in January 2008. He said at the time that the cancer had already spread to his liver. Since then, he starred in the TV series 'The Beast.'

Swayze became a pop ure icon with 1987's Dirty Dancing, which earned Golden Globe nominations and spawned the Oscar-winning hit single '(I've Had) The Time of My Life.' The film earned $214 million worldwide. Swayze co-wrote and performed the song 'She's Like the Wind' for the movie's soundtrack, which went to No. 3 on the pop music charts.

In 1990, Ghost was an even bigger hit than Dirty Dancing earning $505 million around the world.

His breakout roles came in 1983's The Outsiders and 1984's Red Dawn in which he and future Dirty Dancing co-star Jennifer Grey played teenagers fighting invading Russians.

I seriously need to watch Ghost and Red Dawn.
