"Hannover House, the entertainment distribution division of Target Development Group, Inc., has entered into a feature film development venture with Vancouver-based Red Bear Entertainment, for Terminator 3000, envisioned as a $70-million dollar budgeted, 3D animated feature film based on the characters and situations introduced in the original Terminator feature. Hannover House C.E.O. Eric Parkinson previously served as C.E.O. of Hemdale Home Video, Inc. and Hemdale Communications, Inc., and handled the distribution of the original Terminator feature.
Story details for Terminator 3000 are being kept under close wraps, but the writers and production team have a stated goal of minimizing violence in order to obtain a PG-13 level of material.
Hemdale produced and distributed director James Cameron's original Terminator feature, but released the sequel rights in 1990 to Carolco, which later transferred the rights to ultimately end up under the control of Halcyon Media. Santa Barbara based Pacificor, LLC prevailed in the most recent auction and transfer of rights to the franchise in January, and retains approval and licensing authority over the proposed Terminator 3000 project.
Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment will release details of the production timing, financing and principal production personnel later this year, in advance of a proposed January, 2011 start."
McG's gonna be mad.
Maybe this is a good way to get Arnold Schwarzenegger back as the Terminator. He's too old to play the Terminator in a live-action movie, but he's still got the voice.

Maybe the news about the $70 million computer-animated film was premature because now Deadline is reporting that Pacificor, the company that owns the rights to the Terminator franchise have sent a cease and desist letter to Hannover House following the announcement earlier today. Hannover House CEO Eric Parkinson, former head of the Home Video division of Hemdale, who made the original Terminator, claims that he owns the animation rights to the property which weren't included in the sale to Carolco."

COMMANDO blows up a remake!

"20th Century Fox has hired David Ayer to write and direct a remake of the 1985 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer Commando. Erwin Stoff and John Davis will produce.
Ayer is a former Navy soldier who wrote Training Day and moved into directing with Harsh Times and Street Kings.
Deadline New York says Ayer 'will put his own real-world spin on this original premise: a retired elite special forces operative sees his daughter kidnapped and is told she'll die unless he gets on a plane and kills the rival of a nasty exiled dictator. In the original, Schwarzenegger jumped off the plane before takeoff, and killed everyone involved in the kidnap plot.'
Ayer's version of the character 'will be less brawny, but more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry.'"

"While James Cameron is working on finishing December-opener Avatar, actor/comedian Tom Arnold has been talking to The New York Times, saying that he will be reuniting with the True Lies director and co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger for a movie next year:
Still, the future project Mr. Arnold said he's most excited about is a movie with a still-to-be-determined plot and script. 'All I know is Jim Cameron's making it and Arnold' — Mr. Schwarzenegger — 'and I are going to be in it, and it starts in 14 months, the day after Arnold stops being governor of California,' he said. 'It's not going to be called True Lies II, but it might as well be. I can live with that.'
Wishful thinking or is something really brewing? True Lies, which was released in July of 1994 (has it really been 15 years already?), earned $378.9 million worldwide."
I would love to see a True Lies II! And, as I've said before, it'll be good to see Arnold back on the big screen. If it's a comedy, all the better!

Poor Arnold...

The former actor went to watch Terminator Salvation with his wife Maria Shriver and their four children, and he's given director McG's work the thumbs up. But the original Terminator star admits he was left with a bruised ego after his kids declared the new movie their favorite. He says, "Oh yeah, the whole family went to see it. It's a great film, I was very excited. The only thing about it was, I was a little upset because when we came out, I said, 'What did you think of it?' and they said, 'That was the best Terminator movie ever!' So that's really, like thanks a lot, that really helped (my ego)."
Schwarzenegger starred in the first three Terminator films - 1984's The Terminator, 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines in 2003.
He makes an appearance in Terminator Salvation - but didn't film a single scene. Instead, producers used footage from the original trilogy and spliced it into the new movie."
Well, better luck next time, Arnold. PLEASE BE THERE FOR REAL NEXT TIME. Not that it wasn't cool when he showed up in the movie. My main problem with Terminator Salvation was that there was NO HUMOR. I mean, Terminator 2 was light enough to be funny. I guess McG wanted to ignore the fact that he directed both of the Charlie's Angels movies.

I "Might" Be Back? Schwarzengger on TERMINATOR SALVATION

The Los Angeles Times reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger discussed his possible cameo in Terminator Salvation during a webcast interview on Tuesday.
Schwarzenegger told blogger Bill Bradley that he had met with director McG and agreed to be in the movie as long as he didn't have to perform. "I made it very clear that I don't have the time to do the movie," he said. "I said that I would be willing to be in the movie if they get the technology together, and so they are working on that right now."
Spoiler alert! Schwarzenegger would be in a brief scene in which John Connor (Christian Bale) encounters him as a "future Terminator," the governor said, adding, "I think it's cool to continue on with the franchise... in case I want to jump over again and get into the acting after I'm through here."

"I think McG's Terminator is looking pretty good... that last trailer was fantastic and I hope all the trailers and bits of footage I've seen are indicative of the whole and we get a cool, fun kick-ass movie. Now, the fact that it's PG-13 doesn't float my boat. I this trend of taking - franchises and PG-13ing them... Die Hard, Predator, Alien, now Terminator.
But that said, if it's a good movie then it's a good movie, doesn't matter what the rating is. And I love the idea of computer technology being there to give 1984's Arnold Schwarzenegger a cameo here. I think it could be done to rather cool effect as a glimpse here, a nod of what's to come. As long as they don't winky-winky at the audience too much, we'll be fine. I'm far more concerned about this talk about giving Kyle Reese a reason for wearing his '80s Nikes (how about that's what he found when he time traveled back to 1984? Hrmm?) than giving Schwarzenegger some screen time.
Anyway, Arnold did a twitter Q&A with his followers (his account is @schwarzenegger) and was asked about his appearance in T:S. This is what he had to say, which gives a context for what his cameo would be if it indeed comes to pass.
Here's the Governor:
'Right now, they're looking at the technology and see if it is possible to create a technology where they can use my image in the film without me actually filming, because I made it clear I don't have the time... and if they shoot outside the state, I would not participate... But I would be willing to be in the movie if they get the technology together. We have a great relationship with the people making the movie.. McG is the director, he's a terrific talented guy. I'm going to be at the premiere, I told him I want to be as supportive as possible.
I think that within the next week or so, we will see if they are technologically able to do that. It's terrific because they basically take technology out of Terminator 1 and use that walk of mine, and somehow bring it in... it's just a brief scene, where we see one of the leads run into a room and he sees the future terminators because it's kind of a prequel... then he gets thrown around, then he goes in another room and there's other terminators, so there's supposed to be all these new terminators. I think it's cool to continue on with the franchise, and in case I want to jump over again and get into the acting when we're through here.'"

"Variety now has all the answers for us, via a very brief article which explains McG & Arnold's unwillingness to comment too conclusively on the matter until now. In short - no one knew where or not adding a CGI Arnold into the movie could be pulled off convincingly, and only recently has Schwarzenegger given final consent for his likeness to be used. Meaning: he will be in the film. Turns out Schwarzenegger has been secretly working with helmer McG and the effects team to reprise his signature role ... without lifting a finger. A body-cast mold of Schwarzenegger, created when he first appeared as the muscle-ripped cyborg, provided the basis for a digital-effects version of his famous character. The figure appears in Terminator Salvation as a living, breathing actor. Schwarzenegger viewed the resulting footage and gave his go-ahead just in time for McG to include the footage before the helmer completes his cut of the movie. Warners first screens the pic in early May and opens it May 21."
Good to see Arnold back in theaters even though for a little while.

Schwarzenegger Back in Action

"Ain't It Cool News is reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to be playing Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables. He will be filming for one day.
Ben Kingsley is also reportedly out as the dirty CIA jerk, Eric Roberts is in, and Mickey Rourke has finally signed on officially. Latino Review says Danny Trejo has a role in the film as well.
The action-adventure also stars Stallone, Forest Whitaker, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture and Dolph Lungdren."
This is a pretty big cast. And bigger news that the Governator is back on the big screen. We miss you, Arnold.
UPDATE: The plot is - "A team of mercenaries head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator."
UPDATE 2: Apprently, the California public dislike this idea and Schwarzenegger has backed out of the film.
