"20th Century Fox has hired Randi Mayem Singer (Tooth Fairy, Mrs. Doubtfire) to write Big Momma's House 3.
The trade says the storyline for the second sequel is under wraps. New Regency and David Friendly are attached to repeat their producing duties from the first two pics.
The first two films, starring Martin Lawrence, grossed $174 million and $138 million worldwide, respectively."
Well, watch Martin Lawrence turn this down.

TEEN WOLF howls back to life on MTV?

"MTV's reinvention of the 1980s movie Teen Wolf is moving forward. The 1985 film starred Michael J. Fox as a teenager who discovers he is a werewolf. The MTV version will be set in high school, draw from the horror genre to explore werewolf mythology and include a romantic plot line.
'It has a fresh take and is very different from the original,' said Liz Gateley, senior vp MTV series development. 'It has more of an American Werewolf in Paris feel to it. It's a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques.'
The new Wolf was written by 'Criminal Minds' creator Jeff Davis, who executive produces the pilot with Marty Adelstein (Fox's 'Prison Break') and Rene Echevarria (ABC's 'Castle')."

CAPTAIN EO returns?

"[According to rumors] The Francis Ford Coppola-directed/George Lucas-produced sci-fi action 3D musical short film Captain EO will be returning to Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. Apparently the return of Captain EO will be announced by Jay Rasulo at the D23 Expo, and the film will begin playing again in the Southern California theme park in January 2010, as a tribute to Michael Jackson.
The 17-minute film cost a record $17 million in 1986, a cost of about one million dollars per minute of film, this was, minute for minute, the most expensive motion picture of all time. If you adjust that number for inflation, it rises to almost $35 million. That’s a lot of money for a $17 million short film. Another fun factoid is that Steven Spielberg was originally signed on to direct the movie but had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts with his other film projects. The film opened in Epcot and Disneyland in mid-September 1986, Tokyo Disneyland in March 1987, and Disneyland Park (Paris) in 1992). All four installations were closed down by 1998.
The story followed Captain Eo and his rugged ragtag crew who went on a mission to deliver a special gift to a wicked queen (played by Anjelica Huston) who lives on a dark, desolate world. The film featured two songs, 'We Are Here to Change the World' and 'Another Part of Me' by Michael Jackson. The action on the screen was recreated for the live audience using lasers, laser impacts, smoke effects, and starfields that filled the theater. The presentation was replaced by Honey I Shrunk the Audience, another live interaction 3D short."
If it comes down to Walt Disney World, I hope it stays for the summer so I can check it out next year.

'We are definitely modernizing The Three Musketeers without compromising the fun of a period piece,' said Anderson, who hopes to shoot in France and Germany. 'But in our film, corsets and feathered hats don't take center stage. Our version is rich in eye-popping action, romance and adventure.'

"Ain't It Cool News is reporting the rumor that Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios are considering releasing Iron Man 2 in 3D format, and possibly the first Iron Man as well. Here's an except from the article:
'Right now, there is a 1 minute demo of Iron Man 2 converted to high quality digital 3D. I'm told this one minute is totally like Kim Basinger & Mickey Rourke in 9 1/2 Weeks. HOT! Crazy Hot! Right now the Suits at Marvel & Paramount & now also Disney are considering this 1 minute.
At the same time that this is happening, they are fishing for bids with 3 different companies to see what the cost and time it would take to convert Iron Man 2 to a complete 3D film. This same process is being done to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland - but if this comes to pass. What will this mean for the rest of Marvel's slate leading to The Avengers? Will Thor & The First Avenger: Captain America also go through this process? Or will they be shot from the get go in 3D?'"
I hate to say it but everybody I've talked to say they hate 3D. Maybe Avatar will change their minds.

The comic explores what would happen if the traditional Old West enemies -- cowboys and Native Americans -- found the prairie attacked by aliens in mid-1800s Arizona.
The project has been in development for many years under a variety of producers and writers, the most recent version being written by executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, along with 'Lost' executive producer Damon Lindelof. The project has long been in development by Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, who remain on as producers, along with Platinum president Scott Rosenberg."

FANTASTIC FOUR gets a reboot!

Akiva Goldsman has been hired to oversee the reboot as producer. Michael Green, the co-executive producer of TV's 'Heroes' who co-wrote Green Lantern, will write the script for the new Fantastic Four film.
The 2005 Fantastic Four and 2007 sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer were directed by Tim Story and starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis. Since the deals for the reboot are just getting made, it is unclear if any of them will return.
Fox controls the Fantastic Four in perpetuity--as long as it continues to make the films. Marvel is a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement."
Huh. I hope the cast comes back. I like Chris Evans. He's funny.
